Tim's Conversation Corner, Ep. II

I thought the above image would be a good segue to this week's topic: Childhood Cartoons!
I love cartoons, but there are a few that are near and dear to me. The first is Transformers. It is so dear, in fact that when I was at the movies to see Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest, I cheered out loud, much to the embarassment of my sweet wife, when I saw the movie teaser.

This is but one of my childhood favorites, others include GI Joe: A Real American Hero

And Thundercats

I suppose the fact that my generation is now the main audience in movie theaters these days explains why these kids shows have been and are being made into major motion pictures. Transformers was great, I only hope that the upcoming GI Joe and Thundercats films also deliver, or the little boy inside of me will be very sad.

So, lets hear it! What did you watch after school and on Saturday mornings while everyone else was still in bed? Don't be timid, we're all friends here. No one will make fun of you, unless you deserve it.

We didn't believe in TV in my house, which was very sad; but on Saturday mornings, sometimes we could convince my Dad to watch Spiderman with us (of course, we usually had to watch "This Old House" with him after that, so it was hard to decide if it was worth it or not). Scott is often mortified at my lack of cartoon knowledge and has introduced me to TMNT, Transformers, and I expect probably GI Joes soon.

Cartoons? Love them! Amongst the all time greats are Bugs Bunny, Yogi Bear, and Hong-Kong Phooey! When my boys were little of course we treasured Transformers, GI Joe, and Batman...but the greatest was He Man and the Masters of the Universe. We lived the world of Castle Grayskull for a really long time. And seriously who doesn't know that "COWABUNGA" came from TMNT not Bart Simpson!

What about Care Bears? Their love shaped a generation.

My personal favorites were Animaniacs, and Darkwing Duck. The true heros of my childhood.

Just for the record...the Care Bears had NO influence on my life whatsoever.

I'm going to have to agree with Jordan on this one.

Don't be hating on the Care Bears.....not after all the love they gave you two.
